Mashey Bernstein‘s “Norman: ‘My Friend for Life’” (Reflections: Norman Mailer at 100, pp. 11–12) recalls the friendship Mailer promised at their first meeting in April 1976 and kept for thirty-five years: a Passover seder at Mailer’s house, a party at Elaine’s, a showing of Maidstone, and Mailer calling him his “Irish Rabbi.”
