Norman Mailer: Works and Days A digital bio-bibliography

Bibliography 1986

Bibliography for 1986 — the year of the 48th International PEN Congress and the Tough Guys Don’t Dance film. Forty-seven entries from Lennon & Lennon’s Works and Days (86.1–86.42, including the lettered insertions 86.1a, 86.21a, 86.27a, 86.39a, and 86.40a). The bulk are the PEN Congress cluster (86.1–86.30, the Shultz and women-writers controversies) — most pointing in prose to the PEN page and Mailer’s opening address — and the Tough Guys Don’t Dance film-shoot interviews (86.29, 86.32, 86.35–86.40a), which point to the novel’s hub. The year also brings the Strawhead coverage (86.22, 86.25) and the Esquire interview “Throwing Punches” (86.28).
