Bibliography for 1983 - the largest single year in the register. Sixty-two entries from Lennon & Lennon’s Works and Days (83.1-83.59, including the lettered insertions 83.27a, 83.46a, and 83.46b). The overwhelming majority are Ancient Evenings (83.18) tour interviews, advance excerpts, and reviews, recorded as rows pointing to the novel’s hub page; the University of Pennsylvania Pappas-Fellowship cluster points to “The Surreal Professor” (83.35). The year also brings the move to Random House (83.46a, 83.46b, 83.48), the first hardcover of St. George and the Godfather (83.49), and Mailer’s own shorter pieces (83.52, 83.53, 83.54, 83.57, 83.58).
