Meeting Mailer
Gerald R. Lucas's remembrance in Reflections: Norman Mailer at 100 (2023) of his one meeting with Mailer, at the Society's 2006 Provincetown conference, where Mailer advised him to teach The Castle in the Forest.
Gerald R. Lucas‘s “Meeting Mailer” (Reflections: Norman Mailer at 100, pp. 44–45) recalls his first Norman Mailer Society conference, in Provincetown in the fall of 2006, and his one meeting with Mailer, at the Commercial Street house. Asked which of his novels to teach, Mailer answered: “I’d teach The Castle in the Forest: it has something in it to piss everyone off.”
