Danielle Mailer‘s “Superman” (Reflections: Norman Mailer at 100, pp. 46–47) recalls Sundays when her father collected her and her sister Betsy from their mother’s apartment in the Village and took them to a museum, where he framed a Cézanne for them with his fingers, then to lunch at Trader Vic’s. The title comes from a night in Brooklyn when he snapped a plastic fork and said, “Look kids I’m superman.”
