Jackson R. Bryer, remembrance
Jackson R. Bryer's remembrance in Reflections: Norman Mailer at 100 (2023): a reading of Mailer's nonfiction at a Mailer conference in Provincetown left him thinking that Mailer's greatest contribution may lie in those accounts of the era's events and figures.
Jackson R. Bryer’s contribution to Reflections: Norman Mailer at 100 (p. 13) recalls a reading of Mailer’s nonfiction at a Mailer Society conference in Provincetown, with excerpts from The Armies of the Night, Miami and the Siege of Chicago, Of a Fire on the Moon, and others. Listening, he thought that Mailer’s “greatest contribution to this country’s literary landscape may well be” in those accounts of the period’s events and figures.
