Letter to Vahan Gregory (16 March 1964)
Norman Mailer's Letters on An American Dream, 1963–1969, ed. J. Michael Lennon (Sligo Press, 2004); transcription via the An American Dream Expanded digital edition (Project Mailer).
Dear Vahan,1
Just a note to thank you for your very good and fine letter. I’m up to my nose in the serial—since I have to keep two installments ahead of Esquire, I’m banging away now in the pits of the sixth installment, trying to avoid a let-down, and reminding myself I’ve only two to go, so forgive the brevity of this.
Notes
-
The deadline for the sixth installment passed a week before Mailer wrote to Gregory, a literary acquaintance. ↩
